Hi, I'm Kim Castle, you might know me from BrandU®...

Forgive my ramblings here...but I've just got to do something...unusual for the web...I'm going to open up...and be...honest (gasp)...

There's so much hype online. So much jumping up and down...so much spin...so much trying to catch attention that it make it hard to know what or who to believe anymore. Today, I woke up way too early with this bubbling up in me and I just had to communicate...the truth (my truth).

So...I'm simply going to share a bit of my head...and my heart. Hopefully it connects with you.

Now back to my mind being blown....

If you told me 4 years ago, when I started working solely with entrepreneurs (instead of big businesses), after 100's of people participating in our programs that they would be reporting results like "8 times higher than their industry norm"...honestly I would have said...you're dreaming!

Well...it's not a dream. This past week I received this note from our ongoing support community post (BrandU Post)...

I know that sounds 'airy, fairy', BUT it works. But the catch is...you've got to be willing to hunker down and get extremely clear. You've got to take the RIGHT STEPS to cause right action.

Is building your business as a brand THE answer?

The short answer is YES.

But short answers can be misleading—unintentionally—because the real answer is much longer.

And sometimes the short answer is easier. Sometimes the short answer is the result of taking something you know for granted and not even realizing you've done it. I'm sorry to say, I've recently realized we did this.

Finding your place in the marketplace is an ongoing journey. (That's why it is vital that your business be something you are passionate about.)

If you look closely...every "overnight" success is far from overnight. Even the "I made over $100,000 in 24 hours on the Internet," stories took many many months of prep to make those prosperous 24 hours...prosperous. Unfortunately... what we're fed online is the "instant success"—the short answer. So that is what we're conditioned to respond to.

Instant success fills us with hope. But when the promise does not become your experience, there's a part of you that begins to ache. This ignites an even greater search 'out there' to sooth the ache.

Sure, there are lucky occasions sometimes...BUT long lasting permanent success must be our real goal.

Fortunately, when you're extremely clear you recognize the importance of each step you've taken to get to this point. You become free to operate from the place of lasting power...

• If I wasn't an award winning designer helping clients communicate their messages for many years ...
• If the two of us hadn't worked on both sides of some of the world's largest brands (both sides = client side AND agency side)...
• If we hadn't helped 100's of businesses generate more business for over 16 years...

...we wouldn't have gathered the unique ability to decode how a completely solid clear vision is transformed into business reality...and then ultimately a household name.

Unfortunately, most people don't understand what a brand really is. Especially not the entrepreneurs who really need the power a brand delivers. Really, it's not anyone's fault. There is so much misinformation and often there's no personal reference for entrepreneurs with a brand except as a consumer buying one.

People talk advertising, repetitive impressions, logos on pens, personal colors, marketing, product progressions, elevator pitches, USPs...the list goes on and on—everything but what a brand really is—at the core.

We've been fighting the notion that a brand is an awe-inspiring logo.

Would you believe that no matter how much that I talk about a logo not being brand, the number one business request we get is, "Will you design my logo?"

We can, we've been doing that for nearly two decades but that's not where the power lives in your business. That's why we started BrandU® in the first place...
